GPS Control Surveys
Dale Stockstill & Associates has completed control surveys for hundreds of miles of pipelines and electric transmission lines along with many large construction sites and large topographic surveys for the Corps of Engineers.  We have experience with conventional control techniques along with solid GPS post-processing procedures.  We have used post-processed GPS surveys to establish high accuracy control for several large topographic surveys which were completed using LIDAR along with setting precise monument control for the construction of several large Electric Generating Plants. Currently, DS&A is in its third option year with it’s New Orleans COE surveying contract. On every job done, we have set or confirmed TBMs or PBMs with varying degrees of order. A few or the projects completed by DS&A that show its expertise with GPS control are:

Line 168 (42 miles of existing Power Line in Marion, Covington, and Smith Counties, MS)
Line 232 (38.2 miles of new Power Line in Wayne, Clarke and Jasper Counties, MS)
  • South Mississippi Electric Power Association--GPS control was established by static observations using NGS monuments recovered along the length of the lines.  Once the primary control network was established, secondary horizontal and vertical control was extended from this basis.

  • This project ran for almost 8 miles along the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet (MRGO). The control was established using multiple static GPS sessions on High Accuracy Reference Network (HARN) monuments adding rinex data from NGS to the observations for additional checks.
